Horrible Idea formed (in some fashion) back in 2000 by Kevin and Sean. After the millennium bug failed to destroy their instruments, the hope for rocking could continue. The duo continued jamming and writing songs until their daring escape from the Marine Corps in 2004. Shortly after moving to northern Georgia they gained their bassist, BJ. The then trio began practicing and recruited Chris (aka Dr. Squeal, aka Darth Satchelus) from Kevin's homeland in New York. Finally a quartet, Horrible Idea began playing shows, recording albums, and touring all around this merry land some call the United States. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, Chris had to leave the band in 2006. Around the turn of 2007, Beau was brought in to the fold and under the wing of the mighty Ostrich that is Horrible Idea. Due to more unfortunate circumstances involving commitment and family issues, BJ and Beau left the band in May of 2007. As of this September (2007) biographical update, Horrible Idea is a four piece once again. Chris (see above) has returned from out of nowhere. Horrible Idea's new bassist is a Hurricane Katrina "refugee" from Louisiana named Bryan. New songs are being slow-roasted to perfection, and the band is back in full ass-kicking stride. Horrible Idea has toured from New York to California, recorded a full-length album (available at shows or for free on their site), and continues to work hard to get their music heard in Atlanta, Athens, and abroad. Drawing from experiences in life, literature, and imagination, their lyrics vary from seething political rant, to songs about mushrooms. A mix of punk, ska, metal, and miscellaneous influences from each of the band members ensures that the band's music will never dull. Pair that with their drive to constantly improve as musicians and break through the status blow of a pretentious "punk scene" they never asked to be a part of, and hopefully you've got a winning combination. Of course, there are no winners or losers when it comes to making art as long as you're passionate about it, and Horrible Idea has passion in truckloads. Perhaps boatloads. No.... Uber-Passion.
